I saw this poster in a climbing gym in Las Vegas. It turns out that the Access Fund has made a concerted effort to prepare climbers to be responsible members of the climbing community as they transition from the gym to the crag. What a brilliant program!
It got me thinking about what we have in place in Canada... I've been to several gyms in Alberta, several in Montreal, a couple in BC and Ontario, and I cannot recall anything like this. Maybe it's because we don't have as many access challenges as our southern neighbour. Regardless, having something similar wouldn't hurt. The sport continues to grow and depending on the reception it gets during the Olympics it may grow even larger. More participants will enter the gyms and more will eventually be climbing outside.
It would be great to see something posted in Canadian gyms that will help educate climbers about outdoor climbing.
