As the sport continues to grow, the topic of inclusiveness in climbing has come to the forefront. Films and articles about women in climbing, ethnic minorities, climbers overcoming what some would see as physical limitations, gender identity, and other social/cultural barriers, is now a common theme in climbing media. Hopefully, as the culture of climbing evolves, the next generation of climbers can look back at us and be somewhat confounded about why any of this was a big deal to begin with.
Our favourite film that touches on this topic would be National Geographic's The Hard Road. The film follows Siddi Manerikar and the challenges she faces in her pursuit to become an Olympian.
